Message from the Director General

"I cannot do all the good that the world needs, but the world needs all the good that I can do." - Jana Stan Field

Dear Delegates,

With utmost pride and pleasure, I welcome you to the Model United Nations conference at Shiv Nadar School in Faridabad. Over the next few days, delegates will have the incredible opportunity to engage in thought-provoking discussions, negotiate resolutions, and address some of the world's most pressing issues.

The world around us is experiencing unfathomable difficulties. Women and girls are 25% less likely to have sufficient knowledge and digital skills to use technology than men. By 2050, the world population living in areas with at least one incident of water scarcity a month per year will rise to between 4.8 and 5.7 billion, resulting in fierce competition among Water users both within and across Member State borders. Out of the 32.5 million refugees and asylum seekers, 13.7 million were children under the age of 18. Between 2018 and 2021, 1.5 million refugee children were born. COVID-19 has hampered global progress toward good health and well-being. 262 million children and adolescents worldwide do not have the opportunity to attend or complete school.

As the youth of the world, it is critical that we address and eliminate such issues collectively in order to ensure a better future for all. As we embark on this collective journey of knowledge and diplomacy, I am confident that we will witness the remarkable potential each of you possesses. Together, let us seize this opportunity to inspire change, embrace collaboration, and contribute to a world that celebrates unity in diversity.

I wish you all a successful and memorable conference. May your deliberations be fruitful, your resolutions be impactful, and your experiences be transformative.

Thank you
Samya Arora
